Ricky P has lived in the state of Florida his entire life, played guitar for much of his life, and been a singer-songwriter for only a few years of his life. He plays steel-string acoustic guitar with some classical nylon-string guitar sprinkled in. The lyrics to his songs are typically based on his life experiences within his network of friends. The resulting music could be described as singer-songwriter acoustic guitar rock.
Ricky P is in his upper 50’s and is a firm believer that age is not relevant when making music. Like the experiences of many, marriage, children, and life in general get in the way of musical pursuits. After playing guitar from the age of 12, he sold his beloved Kramer electric guitar in order to purchase an engagement ring for someone he loved more. After marriage, college, the start of a career in engineering, and raising two children, time for playing guitar was very limited. Four years ago he gravitated back to the acoustic guitar and began playing cover songs with two different singers. Two years later he began writing songs and learning to sing in order to perform as a solo artist. He lives in the Tampa Bay area with his wife (yes – the person he sold his guitar for) and two dogs – a Labradoodle and a Malshi.
The first single, Have You Seen My Pants (So Wrong) was released via ONErpm on July 1, 2022. The song was written in 2021 while in Costa Rica and is based on a trip to Cozumel, Mexico many years ago. While sitting on the beach with a group of friends and a few buckets of beer, Ricky asked the server how to say "have you seen my pants" in the native language. It was funny at the time but Ricky P has not ever actually lost his pants while drinking. Or at any other time for that matter. At least as far as he can remember...
The second single, Another Level, was released on July 27, 2022. This was his first complete song and it was written in 2020. It is based on how Ricky felt when playing with one of his previous singers - it was like being on a higher plane.
The third single, Down and Up, was released on August 15, 2022. The lyrics for this song were written in Colorado while visiting for his daughter's wedding in 2021. It is based on observations that if you drink too fast you will go down. You have to pace yourself - you know it's not a race.
